The ShemarooMe Parental Controls feature allows you to restrict access to content based on ratings and categories, ensuring a safe viewing experience for children. You can set up a PIN to prevent unauthorized changes to these settings.
Key Features
- Content Filtering: Block content based on maturity ratings (e.g., U, U/A 7+, U/A 13+, U/A 16+, A)
- PIN Protection: Secure settings with a 4-digit PIN to prevent unauthorized changes
- Profile-Specific Settings: Apply different restrictions to different profiles
- Purchase Restrictions: Require PIN for any content purchases or rentals
- Viewing History: Monitor what content has been watched on each profile
How to Set Up Parental Controls
1. Enabling Parental Controls
- Go to "Account Settings" in the ShemarooMe app
- Select "Parental Controls"
- Toggle "Enable Parental Controls" to ON
- Set a 4-digit PIN (make sure it's something you'll remember)
- Confirm your PIN
2. Configuring Content Restrictions
- In the Parental Controls settings, select "Content Restrictions"
- Choose the maximum content rating allowed (e.g., U/A 7+)
- Optionally, block specific categories (e.g., Horror, Crime)
- Save your settings (you may need to enter your PIN)
3. Setting Up a Kids Profile
- Go to "Profile Management" in account settings
- Create a new profile and select "Kids Profile"
- Customize the profile with appropriate content restrictions
- Assign the profile to your child's device if needed
Troubleshooting
Forgotten PIN
If you forget your PIN, you can reset it by verifying your account email. Go to "Parental Controls" and select "Forgot PIN."
Settings not applying
Ensure you've saved the settings after making changes. Some changes may require the app to restart.
Content still accessible
Check that all profiles have appropriate restrictions. Some content may be accessible through search if not properly restricted.
